Oklahoman, Carolyn Mock has been painting wildlife for many years. Her work can be seen in private collections throughout the world. As she paints, She continues to win awards and gain recognition.
Carolyn has always worked in oil because of its creamy feel. The slow drying times allow her the opportunity to work and blend the colors as the painting evolves. Her choice of wildlife grew out of a firm belief that nature, as well as everything in it, has the right to exist. This accounts for her realism style. Through her paintings, she works to show the dignity of each individual animal and the awe she experiences as she paints.
Carolyn feels we are the sum total of our experiences. They shape and influence who we are. So it is with her art. She paints what interests her and that’s the natural world. It makes no difference whether it be God’s creatures, or a sunset, or cowboys doing their jobs.
She hopes her art will give people pleasure and awaken feelings to help them identify with some element in her paintings.
Concerning her art, Carolyn says, “I’m influenced by both old and contemporary masters. My studies have taken me on a wonderful journey and if I had it to do over again, I would choose to be an artist.”
